The Many Wondrous Outfits of Emma Stone

I really like Emma Stone. She seems like a girl I'd simultaneously want to be friends with and just y' She doesn't take herself too seriously, always looks incredible, basically she's super cool and so is her wardrobe. I actually put this together for a friend who's a big fan of hers but I enjoyed doing it so much I think I'll probably do a series. Leave me a comment or let me know over on twitter who you think would be good to draw next. I've popped a few of my favourites on the end here and you can get a closer look at the whole piece over on flickr

Lonely Narwhals

Right now I'm working on a few things I can't actually share right now so I thought I'd show you something I have to come back to. I started work on a sea themed Good Luck card but my albatross just isn't working, he's somewhat too simple..going to have to do it over. When I'm collaging something "freehand" ie, something that's not part drawing and part collage it can be harder to get proportions correctly. I have time to come back to him but I'm normally pretty on it with the birds hmmm...

And now I have a lonely narwhal...hopefully the narwhal can be used somewhere else though, any ideas?

Specimens for Sale (sort of..)

My Dead Alphabet is my favourite piece. It features specimens from the Natural History Museum, the Hunterian Musuem (part of the Royal College of Surgeons) and The Grant Museum (part of University College London) but because of its length it's not an easy fit for other products, so I did a little big of rearranging and have made it available on both ipad skins (seriously I feel like the only person in the world without and ipad right now)

and cushions!(love a good cushion, one day when I stop travelling I will amass a good lot of cushions...)
Society6 is also offering FREE SHIPPING through Sunday so get in on that! (if I wasn't planning yet another trip I'd be adding to my cushion collection right now...)

So Much Snow

Well if you live in the UK I'd be very surprised if you managed to avoid the fact that it's snowed rather a lot in the past week or two, and well where I am, it's still going! I will join the grumps now and say that I am well and truly over it. I don't like the cold very much as it is. It was fun however when my cousins came to stay with us. My cousins are moving back to the UK after nine years in Australia and I think this is the most snow they've ever seen. I'm not sure they were quite prepared for the cold! I took these over two days while taking their pug Betty for walks across the golf course and around my little village. Betty is still with us now, pugs are such strange little things, I feel like I'm looking after an ewok crossed with a gremlin, she's very sweet though. Anyway, I hope you like these pictures, the snow was so heavy it seems to have created a kind of blue tinge...spooky...

Ok that was nice...but seriously, it's supposed to be minus 13 here tonight..I'm so over winter

The Final Backpacking Post- Portland,Oregon- Part 3

The final post! I can't believe it's been five months since we left America. It feels like only a month ago I was shielding my eyes from the light reflecting off of White Sands or craving another piece of fried pickle with our new friends in New Orleans. But oh I find myself missing Portland constantly. Our final days in America were filled with introducing our friends and wonderful hosts Leah and Brady to British comedies, having amazing brunches out (see below!), catching a bluegrass band in a packed out bar and generally just soaking up how beautiful, hazy an suburban it all felt.

(I can't help but think that vintage plumbing sounds like something that should be included in Portlandia)

(roadside gardens are amazing! We should pick up on this idea!)

Often now I find myself wishing my suburban village had a choice of incredibly cool coffee shops, or that I could walk to the different areas of my city instead of waiting an hour for the bus. All too often I find myself wishing I was back on our friend's porch on another incredibly hot summer evening. Of all the places we visited Portland was the place I could see myself living in the most.
Everything about my trip both confirmed and totally turned my ideas about America around, an I really loved every second of it and would do it all again if I could. I made so many new friends and even people that I will admire for the rest of my life. But my life is rarely static an I'm a pretty go with the flow kind of person and huge plans are in the pipeline, but I'm only going to share those with you once things are confirmed.
For now, expect the blog to go through some changes. In December I bashed out some ideas for regular weekly themed posts and even a collaboration of sorts, my new year so far has actually been fairly unlucky, so I guess it can only really get better haha!

Thank You For You

I got a really nice response to my flowery thank you so I made it available as a card so you guys can say thank you too (because really how else are you going to do it?) I actually really like flowers. I know a little bit about them, and have trekked to flower markets in the snow! I think people think I like creepy things with all of my skeletons and preserved animals and skulls in my room but actually I just really like organic things (well...creepy and organic is good too), and flowers slot in really nicely with that. So maybe expect more? I thoroughly enjoyed making these guys (they're handmade little collaged flowers digitally put together, see?)

I want to make them into a full blown pattern to print on textiles and stuff. What do you think? I think I might have to make some more first. Happy friday!

Wild Culture Jamboree

It's up! Go little Spirit bear go! You can now go to the absolutely unbelievably interesting (not to mention stunning) Journal of Wild Culture and view my winning entry to their Jamboree! Yet another big thank you should go out to them for choosing my work and showcasing it on their lovely site! You probably all know now that I'm really rather fond of my little apprentices and so I made them available on my society6 as totes and tshirts to celebrate.

(little tip click this link for free shipping until the 13th)
